I have struggled to get to grips with what it means to have a colourful past. To have to explain to people why you are at the place in your life that you are at, because of the decisions that you have made in your past. I don't any more. I have totally accepted every journey that I have been through and I realise that without these experiences I would not be the person that I am today.
My past is not perfect and I am not perfect, and that's OK. I gave up being a perfectionist a while back as it just didn't serve me. I re-started my life in my mid forties after the divorce of a partnership of 12 years. I have lived in around 20 different places and I have had numerous different jobs. I have been involved in relationships that were just not right for me.
I have drunk too much and partied too much and now I am here, and I wouldn't change a thing! I choose not to let any of the negative past memories define me. What's the point?
I can't change them I can only move on from them, and this is what I discuss with my hypnosis clients. We have all had difficult times in our past, but replaying them over and over in our minds will not change them. If you want to heal, really heal, then you have to let go of your past and forgive yourself if you need to. No amount of therapy will help if you choose not to move on, and it is a choice. It’s a choice that we all have available to us. Be brave my warriors and leave your past behind.
